SHANGHAI TANG is a modern Asian aesthetic with a touch of contemporary chinoiserie, evocative contrasts, timeless elegance, and joie de vivre, with a signature design that reflects a distinctive lifestyle. Over the three decades since its founding, SHANGHAI TANG celebrates the exquisite craftsmanship that has been honed for generations through the interpretation of contemporary art, infusing this essence into luxury fashion and lifestyle that has created an unprecedented impact on cultural innovation and global luxury.
The exhibition is divided into several zones, displaying hundreds of the brand’s rare objects and archival treasures, paired with cutting-edge digital technology - from the sensory journey of SHANGHAI TANG’s signature Ginger Flower fragrance to the whimsical charm of Imperial Couture, visitors will find themselves immersed in a time-travelling capsule where thirty years of history converge with centuries of influence—a seamless fusion of past, present, and future.
GINGER FLOWER TUNNEL
In the 1990s, when the brand began, SHANGHAI TANG was amongst the first to use scent as a core element for building brand identity. SHANGHAI TANG was a trailblazer in this concept, pioneering the use of fragrance to create lasting memories in Hong Kong.
CABINET OF CURIOSITIES
Renowned for its high-end ready-to-wear collections and Imperial Couture, SHANGHAI TANG’s extensive product range also encompasses leather goods, accessories, jewellery, cosmetics, homeware, as well as collectable artworks. Showcasing over a hundred exquisite pieces, the Cabinet of Curiosities offers an exclusive glimpse into the brand’s archives and exceptional savoir-faire.
WALL OF FAME
The nearly nine-meter-long Wall of Fame celebrates SHANGHAI TANG’s illustrious history and its star-studded clientele: Highlighting the brand's journey from the opening of its first flagship store on Central’s Pedder Street in 1994, founded by David Tang KBE, to its iconic boutiques following the brand’s international expansion, the display takes visitors on a trip down memory lane.
THE ICONS
As its name suggests, The Icons highlights the brand's most emblematic high-end ready-to-wear and Imperial Couture pieces, including bespoke creations for renowned figures such as Nicole Kidman, Lin Chi-ling, and Richie Jen. These exquisite designs invite visitors to relive remarkable moments as if they were presented at the events themselves.
SHANGHAI TANG x FabriX
FabriX joins forces with two local-based creative partners to create an immersive poetic escapade experience inspired by SHANGHAI TANG’s brand essence. Inside the augmented reality (AR) fitting room, SHANGHAI TANG’s collections and exquisite craftsmanship are brought to life through AR technology by FabriX’s team.
